Fatalities in traffic accidents in Denmark 2009-2019

Within the years 2009 to 2019, the number of deaths in traffic accidents in Denmark was the highest in 2009, with 303 deaths. The number of fatalities in traffic accidents has decreased since then. In 2019, there were 199 traffic fatalities recorded. That same year, considering the fatalities in traffic accidents by age group, the highest number of fatalities were registered among people aged 75 and older.

Gender comparison 

Within the past decade, significantly more men than women died in traffic accidents. In 2019, 156 Danish men and 43 Danish women died in traffic accidents. In the neighboring country Sweden, the situation was similar. Here too, more men than women died in traffic accidents in recent years.    

Further causes of death

In 2018, the most common cause of death in Denmark was malignant neoplasms and similar conditions (cancerous tumors). The fourth most common death cause was mental disorders.
