Ranking of publishing companies in the Nordic countries 2021, by turnover
Family-owned Albert Bonnier AB is the largest publishing company in the Nordic countries. In 2020, the Swedish publisher generated a turnover of almost two billion euros. Its subsidiary is Bonnier AB.
Games and software publishers
This ranking includes not only book and other print media publishers, but also for example video games companies, such as Mojang AB. The Swedish digital games developer came sixth in the list with a turnover of about 395 million euros. Additionally, the ranking comprises software publishers, for example Dolby International AB and Microsoft AB.
Swedish publishers are highest valued
The ranking of the leading Nordic companies in the publishing industry is dominated by Swedish enterprises. The largest Norwegian company and second on the list was Schibsted. The media house generated a turnover of roughly 1.8 billion euros as of 2020. Other publishers with headquarter in Norway are, amongst others, Verdens Gang or Polaris Media.
