Since 2015, Germany's biodiesel consumption for transport has continuously increased, reaching its peak at some 1.94 million metric tons of oil equivalent in 2019, making up the largest share of biofuels consumed. Bioethanol and biogas fuel consumption increased with some oscillation, amounting to 749 and 57 kilotons of oil equivalent, respectively in 2019.
