Biofuels consumption for transport in Spain 2014-2020
Spain's biofuels consumption amounted to some 1.55 million metric tons of oil equivalent in 2020. This was a decline of over ten percent compared to the previous year, and can be directly related to the coronavirus pandemic. In the period of consideration, biodiesel was by far the most consumed biofuel in Spain, accounting for nearly 94 percent of all biofuels consumption in 2020. In the period of consideration, biofuels consumption for transport peaked in 2018, at 1.73 million metric tons of oil equivalent.
