Techniques of DDoS cyber attacks in Italy 2018, by type

An overview of the DDoS attack techniques in Italy showed that the DNS amplification was the most used technique of distributed denial of service attacks in 2018. In fact, 44.33 percent of DDoS attacks were achieved by sending massive amounts of queries to domain name systems servers.
Over the same year, 24.84 percent of attackers performed a SNMP amplification, where a simple network management protocol was used. The NTP amplification came third in the ranking and was achieved by attacking an accessible network time protocol server.
