Registration volume of new energy passenger cars in Japan 2009-2018

In 2018, approximately 1.66 million next-generation passenger cars were newly registered in Japan, up from just over one million new registrations in 2013. The number of next-generation vehicle registrations rose continuously since 2009, when only about 354 thousand next-generation cars were newly registered in Japan.
