Coal plant capacity factors in the U.S. 2010-2021
The average capacity factor of all coal plants in the United States stood at 49.3 percent in 2021. This was an increase compared to the previous two years. The capacity factor refers to the ratio of the actual energy produced by an energy generating system to the maximum amount of energy that can be produced at full rated power.
