Tesla car sales in Belgium 2010-2018

As of 2018, approximately 880 cars from Tesla were sold in Belgium. This is a decrease compared to the previous year, when the highest sales volume was reached with 1,151 Tesla cars. Looking at results in the Netherlands, the annual sales increased significantly since Tesla’s introduction in 2012. Approximately 25 Tesla cars were sold in 2012 and by 2018, the sales volume increased to a total of 8,589.

Sale volumes of alternative-fueled passenger cars

The number of electric passenger cars on the road in Belgium increased annually from 2009 onwards. In 2018, Belgium counted roughly 9,250 electric passenger cars, which is approximately 2,700 more electric cars than in the previous year. Observing the number of newly purchased alternative-fuel passenger cars, the majority were Gas Plug-in Hybrids. Just over 7,100 Plug-in Hybrids with gas were sold in 2018, whereas the sales volume of fully electric cars amounted to approximately 2,630.

Volume of charging stations Benelux

Recharging batteries for electric vehicles can be done at home, but charging stations placed along the roads are essential as well to fuel the cars on the go. As of 2018, Belgium counted roughly 3,000 charging stations. In the Netherlands, however, 37,037 charging stations were found, whereas Luxembourg had 841 stations to fuel electric vehicles.
