Factoring volume in the Netherlands 2007-2018

Total factoring volume in the Netherlands from 2007 to 2018 (in million euros)

by Raynor de Best, last edited Jul 8, 2019
Factoring volume in the Netherlands 2007-2018 This statistic shows the total factoring volume in the Netherlands from 2007 to 2018 (in million euros). Factoring is a transaction in which a business sells its accounts receivable (also known as invoices), to a third-party financial company (called a factor). The factor then collects payment on those invoices from the business’s customers. The main reason that companies choose to factor is that they want to receive cash quickly, so they can meet their immediate cash needs, rather than waiting the 30 to 60 days it often takes for customers to pay their bills.
In 2018, the total factoring volume in the Netherlands reached 98.4 billion euros. Factoring is less common in Belgium than, for example, in the Netherlands. In 2017, the total market volume of online alternative finance platforms in Belgium reached a value of approximately 91 million euros.
