The total energy supply of crude oil worldwide amounted to 4,497 million tons of oil equivalent in 2018. This accounted for approximately 32 percent of the total global energy supply. Crude oil was followed by coal and natural gas at 3,838 and 3,262 million tons of oil equivalent, respectively.
