The Nielsen Company provided Bond University with raw data for statistical analysis. The study included responses from 2,270 participants of all ages from 800 households in New Zealand. Participants were drawn randomly from the Nielsen Youth Voice Panel in March 2021.

A player was a person who indicated they play computer or video games, simply “yes” or “no” on any device including a PC, console, handheld, social network, mobile phone or tablet computer.
