Leading brands for motorcycle sales in Italy 2020
Honda, Piaggio, and Yamaha were the leading motorcycle brands in Italy in 2020. Asian companies such as Honda, Yamaha and Kymco are ranked among the top brands, together with European companies such as Piaggio and BMW. Italy-based Ducati fell off rankings, selling less than 7,000 units that same year, a record low for the brand.

Italy was the secondleading EU member state in terms of motorcycle sales in 2020, right behind Germany.Motorcycle and scooter sales in Italy had been following an upward trend since 2017, which was slowed down by the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic led to national lockdowns and an overall slump in demand in the country, particularly impacting sales in March and April 2020. Good fourth quarter sales did not offset the dip in first quarter results.

Between 2013 and 2019, registrations of Honda motorcycles in Italy have risen from about 36,000 to over 54,000 units, a rise of over half the 2013 figures. Indeed, Honda motorcycles held a market share of 23.5 percent in Italy in 2019. Honda is also among the leading motorcycle manufacturers globally.
