Royal Dutch Shell's quarterly net loss 2020

Royal Dutch Shell recorded a net loss of four billion U.S. dollars in the fourth quarter of 2020. That year the greatest quarterly loss occurred in the second quarter, which also saw the oil crisis fully realized by plunging crude oil prices around the world. The majority of the net loss posted by Shell is due to write-downs in the value of future oil and gas operations, with the company expected to further investments in the alternative energy sector.
