Energy production from landfill gas in the European Union (EU) 2013-2018

Primary energy production from landfill gas presented a trend of continuous decline over the years in the 28 members of the European Union. Between 2013 and 2018, figures decreased by 391 metric kilotons of oil equivalent.

In 2018, the EU-28 had a primary energy production of 2,429 metric kilotons of oil equivalent from landfill gas. The country with the largest energy production was the United Kingdom, followed by Italy and France, with productions at 1,168, 334 and 322 metric kilotons of oil equivalent, respectively.
