Bancontact and VISA/MasterCard e-commerce transactions in Belgium 2013-2016
This statistic shows the number of processed e-commerce payment transactions in Belgium from 2013 to 2016, by payment scheme (in millions). According to the Belgian branch of Wordline, the sole processor of payment transactions in the country, transactions with either a Visa or a Mastercard reached a total of approximately 64 million in 2016. Credit cards were the leading payment method for online purchases in Belgium in the first quarter of 2017. Its market share, however, decreased in favor of Bancontact.
