Between May and September of 2022, around 1.56 thousand people in South Korea were diagnosed with heat-related illnesses as reported by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). This represents an increase from the previous year. Summer 2018 saw a major heatwave across Northeast Asia, leading to an abnormally high amount of patients suffering from heat-related diseases.
