Use of increased playback speed among podcast listeners in the U.S. 2018-2019
According to a study conducted in early 2019, 26 percent of podcast listeners in the United States increased playback speed in order to listen to podcasts faster, up by seven percent from the previous year. This shift in listening habits could have to do with efficiency. The vast wealth of content available via podcasts, video streaming services, and online music platforms means that listeners and viewers have more content to watch than ever before, but for many consumers, there simply isn't enough time in the day.
