Most employees in the United States had savings in bank accounts as of end 2021. A total of 61 percent of employees surveyed had savings in savings account, checking account, money market funds, certificate of deposit accounts etcetera. Roughly half of the respondents also had investments or savings in employer-sponsored defined contribution plans, such as the 401(k) plan.
