Most valuable football clubs in the Liga MX 2022

At the beginning of 2022, the soccer club CF Monterrey was the most valuable soccer team in Mexico’s first division 'Liga MX', with a market value of about 94.5 million U.S. dollars. CF América, worth nearly 83 million U.S. dollars, came in second in the ranking.

Leading goal scorers of the Liga MX

The first half of the top-tier soccer league season in Mexico goes from July to December of each year. In the 2021/2022 season, two players tied first in the goal scorers’ ranking of the Apertura championship, each nine in total. Meanwhile, the second half of the season —known as Clausura— usually takes place between January and May of each year. In the previously finished tournament as of early-2022, Pedro Canelo, playing for the Deportivo Toluca, achieved 11 goals for his team.

Soccer fans in Mexico

Based on figures from 2020, more than half of Mexico’s population has been interested in soccer since 2010. A study conducted in 2020 investigated the degree of interest in football among Mexican men and women and found that 69 percent of men and nearly 43 percent of women followed the sport in the country. Focusing on fan activity online, Mexico’s national team was the most popular sport profile on Twitter in Mexico as of 2021.
