Within Latin America, Mexico is used to rank second. Brazil's gargantuan dimensions make the Brazilian population surpass Mexico's by over 60 percent. In 2021, the Mexican gross domestic product (GDP) added up to around 1.3 trillion U.S. dollars, while Brazil's stood at 1.6 trillion dollars. However, Mexico is the absolute protagonist when it comes to cinema in that region. The box office revenue in the North American country amounted to almost 380 million dollars in 2021, compared to 176 million dollars in the Portuguese-speaking giant. Furthermore, Mexico's box office revenue surpassed that of Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic altogether.
