Prime Day Is a Big Win for Amazon
Prime Day
Prime Day, Amazon’s self-invented shopping event for Prime members, is a big success. Established in 2015, Prime Day has grown bigger each year and last year’s iteration of the 30-hour shopping spree saw sales grow roughly 60 percent compared to the 2016 event.
While Amazon doesn’t disclose exact sales figures for Prime Day, it did say that its worldwide sales on July 11, 2017 surpassed both Cyber Monday and Black Friday, making it the biggest day in Amazon's history. Estimates by Internet Retailer put the company’s haul for the event at $2.4 billion last year. Not bad for a members-only event created out of thin air.
