In Germany, doing your tax returns is known as "Steuererklärung". The process can result in people receiving more money, in some instances thousands of euro. However, the processing time can prove quite lengthy, depending on the state receiving the documents. According to website Lohnsteuer Kompakt a tax return takes the longest in Lower Saxony at an average of 65.7 days while Saarland is the fastest at 48.7 days.
This chart shows the days of processing time per tax return in tax offices in 2018.
