Industry revenue of »advertising« in Czechia 2011-2023

The Czech advertising industry is very mature with a per-capita spend almost 300% that of the average throughout Central and Eastern Europe. However, in today’s austere environment industry revenues are expected to exhibit only tepid growth, increasing from 4.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2018 to 4.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. TV remains the preferred advertising channel followed by digital, magazines, outdoor, newspapers and radio. Media Club is the largest advertising sales point in the country with a strong portfolio of TV channels, websites, radio stations and magazines.

Digital advertising is the fastest growing

With strong internet and smartphone penetration, it is no surprise that digital advertising is the fastest growing channel in the country. Revenues are expected to double during the period 2017-2024, increasing from 719 million U.S. dollars to 1.4 billion U.S. dollars. As is the trend globally, search and social media advertising account for a large majority of revenues. However, revenues in this segment might be hit if the government’s plan to implement a 7% digital tax on global giants such as Google and Facebook comes to fruition.
