Beer market revenue in the United States from 2010 to 2021

The Beer market has been growing steadily in the U.S., with one of the reasons being the emergence of new brand labels and innovative flavors. It was valued at 74 billion U.S. dollars in 2017 and is projected to grow to 83 billion in the medium term. Bud light, Coors, Miller Lite and Budweiser are some of the most popular domestic brands preferred by consumers.

Light beer is the most consumed

One of the most exciting trends globally isn’t the launch of murky, hazy or even pastry beers but the resurgence of the good old lager or light beer. The U.S. is no different with a majority of consumers preferring lagers to other types such as Super Premium and Craft. Corona, another lager, was the leading imported beer brand in the U.S. with about 2.37 billion U.S. dollars’ worth of sales in 2018. Interestingly, the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus hasn’t impacted the brand’s sales in the U.S. as it has in some other countries, with sales growing five percent in the four-weeks that ended February 16.

The market for beer is structured into off-trade sales (in stores) and on-trade sales (in bars, restaurants etc.). Additional markups for hospitality services are therefore not taken into account.
