Raw silk, which is popularly known as "paat" in eastern regions , "resham" in Urdu and Hindi dialect, and "pattu" in the southern pockets of the country, is the most natural form of delicate fiber which can be easily and smoothly woven into different fabrics and garments. India is the second largest producer of raw silk. Furthermore, the export value from the country in financial year 2014 was approximately 45 million Indian rupees.
