In three years between 2019 and 2021, mainland China accounted for 10.2 percent of the global import value of agriculture products on average, making China the largest importer of agricultural products worldwide. China's global import share has increased considerably over the last 20 years, while its export share has not changed significantly. This illustrates China's growing dependence on the global market for the supply of food and other agricultural products.
