European countries exposed to SOx air pollution from cruise ships in 2017

In 2017, sulphur oxide emissions from cruise ships were highest in Spain at 14.5 million kilograms. This was followed by Italy where emissions amounted to 13.9 million kilograms. Both countries were exposed to significantly more emissions than Greece, which was ranked third.

Of the numerous cruise ship companies operating in European waters, Costa Cruises emitted the greatest volume of sulphur oxide.
