Number of banks in Norway 2008-2018, by type of bank

The majority of the banks in Norway during the period from 2008 to 2018 were "sparebankar", which is a certain kind of Norwegian savings banks. In 2018, 98 out of the total number of 141 banks were sparebankar. During the same year, 29 of them were commercial banks and 14 were branches of foreign banks.
