During a representative survey of the British adult population, undertaken between the 16th and 17th March 2020, respondents were asked about their preferred approach to deciding the winners and losers of any sports leagues, competitions or tournaments that have been cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The largest share of respondents within all but the 45-54 year old age group hold the opinion that there should be no winners or losers recognised this year wheres the second largest share indicated that if sporting league fixtures have to be completely cancelled the winners and losers should be calculated by the league according to the likelihood of who would win the remaining, unfulfilled fixtures. Within 45-54 year old age group only 32 percent hold the opinion that there should be no winners or losers recognised this year compared to 36 percent that hold the opinion that the winners and losers should be calculated by the league.
