Mexico's export crude oil reached 8.53 U.S. dollars per barrel on April 24, 2020, down from nearly 59 dollars per barrel in the first week of the year. International oil prices collapsed in the first months of the year due to dramatic reductions in demand as a result of the COVID-19 crisis and a production dispute between Saudi Arabia and Russia. Between May and August, Mexico's export crude oil prices reported a continual recovery trend, averaging over 40 dollars per barrel throughout the latter month.
