In 2018, the leading 100 energy producers in the United States were responsible for more than 80 percent of the industries total CO2 emissions. These power producers include such companies as Duke Energy and Vistra. In 2018, the energy sector in the United States was responsible for 32 percent of the nations total carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
