Sunflower seeds production in South Africa 2019/2020, by province
In 2019 and 2020, Free State was the highest state with sunflower seeds production in South Africa with 390 thousand metric tons. This accounted for roughly 55.8 percent of the total commercial production. Out of nine states, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal produced either nil or a negligible quantity, while Eastern cape came as lowest state to produce sunflower seeds with around 600 metric tons as of the same year.
