Production of guavas in South Africa 2000-2019
In 2018/2019, the preliminary production of guavas in South Africa reached approximately 26.9 thousand metric tons, which presented a decline of 3.1 percent from the previous year. The production quantity of guavas is affected by occurring unfavorable weather conditions. Moreover, in the timespan between 2008 and 2019, the lowest quantity of produced guava was in 2011/2012 at about 23.7 thousand metric tons, while the peak was around 33.6 thousand metric tons one year after. This constituted a growth of 41.8 percent.
Furthermore, the average production volume for the period under investigation stood at 27.7 thousand metric tons. Overall, it is worth noting that most of the produced guavas (approximately 91.2 percent) were used for processing as of 2018/2019.
