Gross savings per capita in the France 2015-2021

Household gross savings in France decreased in 2021, after peaking the previous year at around 4,654 euros per capita. That value reached in 2020 was nearly 1,500 euros higher than the 2019 figures. This unprecedented increase is due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the resulting widespread lockdowns and temporary business closures. These factors prevented many from spending as much money as usual, while the economic crisis may have resulted in a loss of consumer trust, which may explain the still relatively high values in 2021.
