CIS: food spending to minimum wage ratio 2023

Azerbaijan had the lowest basic food spending to minimum wage ratio in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region as of January 2023. The monthly expenses on the basic food basket occupied nearly 39 percent of the official minimum wage in the country. To compare, in Uzbekistan, the minimum wage was just enough to cover basic food expenses.

The basic food spending was calculated by the source as the total price of a consumer basket with the following products: 10 bread loafs, 10 liters of milk, 20 eggs, 1.5 kilograms of rice, 1 kilogram of cheese, 6 kilograms of meat, 6 kilograms of fruit, and 8 kilograms of vegetables.
Ukraine stopped participating in most CIS activities in 2014.
