As of 2021, almost 48 percent of the population in the Middle East and Africa follow a halal diet. This includes avoiding the consumption of pork, blood and other meat which as not slaughtered according the Islamic guidelines. Furthermore it includes to avoid ingredients such as alcohol which are not conform with their religious beliefs.
