Euro 2021: players featured most in online news

In celebration of the Euro 2020/21 competition, Statista published the Celebrity Index DossierPlus. The Celebrity Index - Euro 2021 ranked all competing teams and players by their celebrity status. Metrics that are used to weight this ranking include social media following, their transfer market value as well as the sentiment and number of global online news articles that mention any player competing. Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo had the highest number of features in online news articles worldwide, with over 43.7 thousand mentions.
