Number of asylum applicants in Italy 2020, by leading nationalities
In 2020, the largest number of asylum applicants to Italy were from Pakistan. About 5.5 thousand Pakistanis sought asylum in Italy during the year. Nigeria and Bangladesh were the second and third most common countries of origin, respectively. People from Bangladesh and Pakistan were also among the ten most frequent nationalities declared upon arrivals.
