As of 2022, UniCredit was the Italian bank with the largest tier 1 capital among the largest banks in Italy. UniCredit's tier 1 capital amounted to 57.52 billion euros in 2022. Intesa Sanpaolo followed, with a tier 1 capital of roughly 47.23 billion euros.
