Cost-to-income ratio of selected leading banks in Italy H1 2018-H1 2019

According to data from their financial statements, in the first half of 2019, the Italian bank with the lowest cost-to-income ratio was Intesa Sanpaolo (49.3 percent), followed by Unicredit (53.6 percent), and Banca Popolare di Sondrio (61.4 percent).
The cost-to-income ratio is a key financial measure, particularly important in valuing banks, which shows a company’s costs in relation to its income. The ratio gives investors a clear view of how efficiently the firm is being run – the lower it is, the more profitable the bank will be.
