Number of subsidized EV chargers in Japan FY 2021, by prefecture and type
As of March 31, 2022, Tokyo counted the most electric vehicle chargers which received subsidies for their installation among Japanese prefectures, adding up to approximately 3.72 thousand units. Apart from third-ranked Aichi Prefecture, the top five indicate that chargers concentrate in the Greater Tokyo Area. Aichi's position may be explainable by its capital Nagoya, one of Japan's most populous cities, but also by Toyota City, home of Toyota Motor Corporation.
