A 2021 study identified the most popular channels used by high net worth (HNW) art collectors worldwide to purchase art and antiques that year. According to the report, dealers were the most conventional approach for HNW collectors to buy art. Overall, 44 percent of surveyed collectors relied on dealers' websites to purchase art, while 42 percent visited the dealers' galleries. Meanwhile, roughly a third of the survey sample used online third-party platforms, and 31 percent purchased art via Instagram in 2021.
