Quick service restaurants are able to maintain customer loyalty for a number of reasons including pre-established drive-thrus, menu innovations, curbside pickup, and delivery services. In the first quarter of 2022, McDonald's held the highest customer loyalty score of any QSR (see supplementary notes for more information on how this score was calculated). Meanwhile, Sonic and Baja Fresh ranked second and third respectively.

The source used first-party, permission-based SDK location data to analyze the foot traffic patterns and visitation history of QSR consumers in the U.S. by quarter in 2022. They examined micro visits to each QSR, defined as an in-person visit of less than 10 minutes. Retailers are ranked based on their assigned loyalty score, which was determined by the number of visits observed and normalized for month-over-month comparability.
