Japan: credit sales transaction value by sales channel 2023

With a credit sales transaction value of about 21 trillion Japanese yen, general retail stores were the leading sales channel in the Japanese credit card industry in 2023, replacing department stores for the second consecutive time. The transaction value in department stores amounted to around 18.6 trillion yen.
