According to a survey conducted in Japan in July 2022, supermarkets were the most common places where consumers wanted to use IC credit cards. While around 55 percent of the respondents intended to use their cards at supermarkets, over 47 percent wanted to make credit card payments at electronics retail stores. The survey showed that respondents made a distinction between contactless credit card payments and IC credit card payments, which require them to insert a card into a payment terminal.
