In 2019, about 88.3 percent of regular teachers at kindergartens in Japan also held licenses for child care workers. Licenses for kindergarten teachers in Japan can be obtained by earning credits at universities or junior colleges. Licenses for child care workers can also be acquired at universities or junior colleges, as well as by passing qualifying examinations.
