As of April 2022, around 0.7 percent of children in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, whose parents applied for nursery centers were placed on the waiting lists due to the shortage of vacant seats in the area. In the measured period, approximately 0.1 percent of applicants for daycare centers were waiting to be accepted across Japan.
