In 2021, close to 3.9 thousand people in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan, passed the qualifying examinations to be child care workers, including around 330 who received an exemption from the examinations. The examinations are conducted twice a year in each prefecture across Japan. After passing the exams, it is required to register and receive approval from prefectural governments to start working as a child care worker in Japan.
