Number of unipersonal households in Brazil 2022, by gender and region

In 2021, there were almost 11.8 million unipersonal households in Brazil, the third most common type of household in the country. In addition, nearly 55 percent of those living alone were men, with a total of 6.5 million single-member households. The Southeast was the region with the largest number of single-person households, with 2,929 thousand men and 2,566 thousand women living alone.
