Brazil: tree cover loss by key state

The state of Pará had the greatest tree cover loss in Brazil between 2001 and 2021, with roughly 15.5 million hectares. Overall, the leading three states accounted for 54 percent of total tree cover loss in Brazil in the period of consideration. Commodity driven deforestation is the main tree loss driver in the country, followed by shifting agriculture.
